Energy labels

Questions about validity, assessment and registration of the energy label.

How long is my energy label valid?

A final energy label is valid for 10 years from the registration date. Have you made major sustainability improvements in the meantime? Then you can have a new energy label drawn up to record those improvements officially.

What is the difference between a basic and detailed assessment?

A basic assessment (EP-W/B) is sufficient for most existing homes. A detailed assessment (EP-W/D) is mandatory for new construction delivered after January 1, 2021 or after a very major renovation where the entire building envelope has been addressed.

What happens to the inspection photos taken?

Inspection photos and other evidence are kept for at least 15 years under the applicable certification rules. This is needed for quality checks and possible audits by certification bodies.

Do solar panels always count?

Yes, provided the solar panels are correctly connected to the electrical installation of the home and can be evidenced with an invoice or other valid documentation. Solar panels can improve the energy label considerably.

How do I recognize an official label?

An official energy label is always registered in EP-Online, the national government registration. Labels that are not registered there are not legally valid for sale or rental.

Is a provisional label still valid?

No. Provisional energy labels have not been valid for the sale or rental of a home since January 1, 2021. A final energy label registered in EP-Online is always required.

Sustainability

Questions about sustainability advice, insulation, subsidies and implementation.

What exactly does sustainability advice entail?

An advisor visits your home or complex and examines the insulation, glazing, possibilities for solar energy and storage, and other improvements. You then receive a clear report with concrete measures, the associated costs and savings, and an overview of subsidies you qualify for.

Which measures deliver the most savings?

This differs per home. Good insulation of roof, walls, floor and glazing often forms the basis, as this most limits heat demand and energy consumption. It then becomes clear which additional measures, such as solar panels and a battery, offer the most benefit for your situation. Our advice maps this out for your specific situation.

Do all homes qualify for subsidy?

There are various subsidy schemes for sustainability, each with its own conditions regarding, for example, the type of measure and the combination of measures. Our report gives you an overview of the schemes your situation qualifies for, so you know what you are entitled to.

How long does the process take from advice to execution?

The report usually follows within a few working days after the visit. After that, you set the pace: you can get started immediately with the contractors we connect you with, or implement the measures in phases.

What does sustainability advice cost?

For a home we charge a fixed rate of € 325. For an apartment complex or residential building we determine the rate on request, depending on the size and type of complex.

Do I have to find a contractor myself after the advice?

No, that is not necessary. After the advice, HPR Expertise connects you directly with reliable contractors, so you can get started with the proposed measures without further research.
